Mauricio Pochettino will need to galvanise his side after a crushing 4-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City last week. Spurs travel to Turf Moor to take on a flying Burnley side, managed by Sean Dyche, who sit a point ahead of Spurs in sixth place.

Burnley’s confidence will be high against a Spurs team desperately in need of a win to maintain their pursuit of a top-four spot. Burnley’s aims for the season will have shifted after sustaining their excellent start to the season, and the club will begin to consider itself a serious contender for a Europa League spot.

Burnley go into the game without centre-back James Tarkowski as he starts a three-game suspension for violent conduct after a clash with Brighton’s Glen Murray, meaning a reshuffle at the back for the Clarets. Goalkeeper Tom Heaton is still absent with a shoulder injury, and John Walters continues to monitor a knee injury.

Pochettino has no new injury concerns of note, though Victor Wanyama and Jan Vertonghen remain unavailable for selection until the New Year. The return of Davinson Sanchez, following his suspension for an elbow on Watford’s Richarlison, will be a big boost to Pochettino’s defence.

What time does it start?

Burnley vs Tottenham is at 17:30 on Saturday.

Where can I watch it?

The game will be shown on BT Sport 1, with coverage starting at 17:00.

It’s a big game for…

Harry Kane. Enduring, by his standards, a mini-goal drought having failed to score in his last two games for Spurs, the England forward will be eager to find the back of the net against a Burnley side that has kept nine clean sheets this season, second only to Mourinho’s United. Frustrated by a lack of chances against Manchester City last week, Spurs’ midfield will need to provide better service for their go-to player.

Best stat…

Burnley have failed to win against Spurs in the last five meetings between, losing three and drawing two.

Player to watch…

Dele Alli. After a stellar showing last year, scoring 22 and providing 13 assists in 50 appearances, Alli has found goals harder to come by this term. Facing criticism at the start of the season for a series of inadequate displays, the Tottenham man has shown signs of rediscovering his best form, notably with a brace and a man-of-the-match performance against Real Madrid in the Champions League in November. With an excellent record against the Claret’s with two goals in two appearances, Alli will certainly be in the mood for more goals.
