What the papers say this morning

Uncertainty continues to hang over the future of Emre Can at Liverpool amid reports of a contract dispute with Kop chiefs. The Germany midfielder looks increasingly likely to leave the Reds when his current deal runs out in the summer, reports the Liverpool Echo, with Juventus a possible destination.

Barcelona are to offer Arsenal the opportunity to swap Mesut Ozil for Arda Turan in a part exchange, according to the Daily Star. Although Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has said he expects the midfielder to stay at the Emirates beyond the January transfer window unless "something unbelievable" happens, the Germany international is out of contract in the summer and letting him walk away a free agent would mean Arsenal losing out on the chance to recoup any of the reported £43million they spent on him in 2013.

Meanwhile, Turkey playmaker Turan has reportedly fallen out of favour with Nou Camp boss Ernesto Valverde.

Meanwhile, Barca's LaLiga rivals Atletico Madrid may see approaches from several Premier League clubs for striker Kevin Gameiro, The Sun reports.

The France international, who joined Atletico from Sevilla in July 2016 for a reported £28million, is said to have attracted the attention of Totenham, Newcastle and Everton. A lack of time on the pitch may increase the likelihood of the 30-year-old moving on, although the British clubs may have to offer significant sums in order to satisfy Atletico's money men.

Big clubs want Evans

Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City are expected to fight it out to sign West Brom captain Jonny Evans in January, the Daily Telegraph reports.

Both Premier League clubs are said to be poised to make offers, while new Albion boss Alan Pardew is said to be considering which players he can sell in order to bring in new talent. The Gunners, City and Leicester all failed with summer bids for the Northern Ireland international, who the Baggies value at over £30million.

However, the club reportedly plan to offer him a new contract and Pardew is keen to sit down with Evans after being appointed on a deal until 2020 on Wednesday.

David Silva has signed a one-year contract extension at Manchester City to keep him at the club until 2020.

The Spanish midfielder first signed for City in 2010 from Valencia and has since gone on to establish himself as one of the club’s most prominent players.

“I am so happy to have committed my future to City,” the 31-year-old said.

“I am incredibly proud of what I have achieved at City in my seven-and-a-half seasons here and with Pep in charge, I feel we are in a great position to win trophies this season and beyond.

“The style of football we are playing is a pleasure to be a part of and I look forward to winning more titles in the years to come.”

Newcastle want Shaw

Could Luke Shaw be on his way out this Winter? According to the paper, Rafa Benitez has made an inquiry about the left-back though is unsure about the player's £20m price-tag (you're not alone). United are willing to knock £7m off the £27m they paid Southampton for Shaw in 2014 but it seems they're not prepared to drop any lower - and Jose Mourinho has ruled out a loan move which certainly complicates matter. To paraphrase The Clash, 'will he stay or will he go?' Honestly? Who knows.

Manchester City back in for Sanchez?

Manchester City are ready to launch a January move for Alexis Sanchez after initially failing to sign him in the summer, the Manchester Evening News reports. Although there's a preference to wait until the end of the season when the Chilean becomes a free agent, Pep Guardiola doesn't want to risk missing out on the player. For Arsenal, January will be the last chance to cash in on the forward. Do they wait or do they sell?

Liverpool target dismisses talk of Anfield move:

Roma left-back Emerson Palmieri has recently emerged as a Liverpool target but the Brazilian-turned-Italian has shot down any talk of a move to Anfield by insisting he is happy in Rome.

Palmieri, who is also wanted by Inter Milan, maintained he wants to remain at Roma's Stadio Olimpico.

He said: "I have heard that clubs such as Inter Milan and Liverpool are seeking to sign me.

"But I am under contract with Roma. I am flattered by stories such as these. However, I want to stay here in Rome. I am happy here.

"Roma have a great squad, with everyone good enough to start matches. There are so many close-fought games, and it is vital for us to have a well-stocked squad.

"We can compete till the very end for the title. I'm not yet 100 per cent fit, but I am working to get there. I want to play, but the manager will decide if I am ready or not."
