Aston Villa sign Josh Onomah on loan after midfielder agrees new Spurs deal

Josh Onomah has joined Aston Villa on loan from Tottenham

Josh Onomah has signed a new four-year contract with Tottenham and joined Aston Villa on a season-long loan.

The 20-year-old midfielder has made 32 appearances for Spurs, most of them as a substitute, and was part of the England team that won the Under-20 World Cup this summer.

He made 12 senior appearances for Spurs in 2016-17, including a Champions League debut at Bayer Leverkusen last October.

Onomah told avfc.co.uk: "I can't wait to get started.

"This is a huge football club and I want to really make my mark here and prove to be a player the manager can rely on. I know that promotion is the aim and I am here to help us achieve that."

Onomah is eligible for Villa's opening Championship match of the season against Hull on Saturday.
