Jamie Carragher with a cheeky jab in the direction of Gary Neville over Crystal Palace job

Jamie Carragher has urged incoming Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson to add Gary Neville to his coaching staff, in a cheeky Twitter message directed at his fellow Sky Sports pundit.

Neville was part of Hodgson’s coaching set-up during his time as England manager, with reports that the duo clashed in the final months of their time working together denied by both parties in recent months.

Yet Carragher may have a little more knowledge of the relationship between Neville and Hodgson, with his devious tweet urging the veteran manager to add the former Manchester United defender to his back-up staff once more unlikely to come to fruition.

Neville has confirmed that he is not intending to return to coaching after a turbulent spell in charge of Spanish side Valencia, so Carragher will have to put up with his Sky Sports sparring partner after all.
