'They will be laughing at Liverpool' - Roy Keane's brutal assessment of one key aspect of Jurgen Klopp's side

Shaky Liverpool defending turned what could have been a victory in their opening Champions League Group E game into a relatively disappointing draw, with former Manchester United and Ireland captain Keane not holding back as he lashed into Klopp's side.

As he reflected on a poorly conceded second goal in his role as an ITV Sport pundit, Keane didn't hold back as he gave this critique of Liverpool's ambitions for the months ahead.

Klopp's side lost concentration as Sevilla snatched a second half leveller through Argentine midfielder Joaquin Correa, with Keane providing this damning assessment as he focused on an obvious weak spot in Liverpool side.

"This sum up Liverpool in a nutshell, why they are not going to win anything," said Keane. "From a throw-in, just switching off, in an important game at an important moment. It must drive the manager crazy as that is schoolboy defending."

Keane's rant did not stop there, as he argued Klopp's side contribute to their own downfall with their defensive lapses.

"Liverpool do all the hard stuff really well in terms of creating chances, pace, power and a bit of quality going forward, but the easiest part of football is being switch of defensively and Liverpool don't seem to be able to do it," added Keane.

"Win the Premier League or Champions League? Liverpool? Forget about it.

"I think they have enough to get through the group, but in the later stages against Real Madrid and all these boys, they will be laughing at Liverpool."
