Transfer deadline is fast approaching and every man and his dog continues to be linked with Manchester United – despite Jose Mourinho’s insistence that he is happy with the club’s summer business.

United have made three signings so far in this window, bringing in Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic, though Mourinho is still interested in landing a fourth and final player as he bids to carve out a premier league-winning squad.

Here, we take a look at the latest Manchester United reports:

Late move for Mahrez?

Jose Mourinho has reportedly registered late interest in Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez, with an alleged £50m bid ready to be made.

French TV station SFR Sport (us neither…) claims that the United boss is eager to make a move but has been met with resistance by the club board who feels that the player is not worth such a fee.

Mahrez handed in a transfer request earlier in the summer to force a move away from the King Power Stadium, with Roma touted as a potential destination, but the player has yet to find a new club as the transfer deadline approaches.

Coleman urges Bale to stay put

Speculation surrounding Gareth Bale refuses to go away, with the forward’s place at Real Madrid far from clear.

To make matters worse, Bale was whistled by sections of the Bernabeu crowd when he was substituted in Real’s 2-2 draw with Valencia at the weekend in what was the indication that the Real faithful don't want him there.

But despite reported interest from United, Wales manager Chris Coleman has urged his fellow compatriot to stay put.

“Gareth has won three Champions Leagues medals. No one else has ever gone to a foreign club from this country and done that. Absolutely nobody can doubt him,” he said.

“Being selfish, I think he’s better off at Real Madrid. You work all your life to get the top and when you get there, you don’t want to give that up. Where do you go from Real Madrid that’s better? “There are one or two clubs up there, but none better.”

Perisic isn’t going anywhere

United’s pursuit of Ivan Perisic is well and truly over for the foreseeable future – that’s according to Croatia manager Ate Cacic at least. The 28-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer but Cacic says he can’t see the winger changing clubs.

"I spoke to Ivan Perisic, he is happy at Inter," Cacic told reporters.

"The coach [Luciano Spalletti] appreciates him... they are preparing new contract for him."
