Marouane Fellaini is about to end his four year spell at Manchester United, with Galatasaray confirming they are about to seal a deal for the Belgian midfielder.

Galatasaray sporting director Cenk Ergun has confirmed reports suggesting Fellaini is close to signing a deal to move to Istanbul, with a deal believed to be close to being confirmed.

"We are in talks with Fellaini. We have made an approach," Ergun told Ajansspor

"We need a player like Fellaini who can move around in midfield. Fellaini will leave Manchester United and he is now in our radar."

News of Fellaini's imminent departure has sparked a predictable outpour of jubilation and among United fans, with the cumbersome midfielder a divisive figure since his arrival at the club in the summer of 2013.

United agreed to pay an inflated £28m fee for Fellaini as he followed manager David Moyes from Everton to Old Trafford, but he was quickly cast as a scapegoat for the Scot's failure as he was sacked before the end of his first season after he succeeded Alex Ferguson.

Even though Fellaini has enjoyed a few high points in his time at United, many of the club's fans struggled to accept a player of his ilk was up to the task of playing in his favoured attacking midfield role or as a makeshift forward.

Despite being booed by the Old Trafford faithful last season, United manager Jose Mourinho was quick to defend Fellaini and yet it appears he is now ready to make his exit from the club.

Fellaini's move to Turkey will fuel rumours that United have a midfielder lined-up to join the club in the coming days, with Chelsea's Nemanja Matic one of the leading names on Mourinho's wanted list.
