Manchester United are playing some very neat football in front of a huge crowd at the Aviva Stadium and there has been plenty of entertainment.

Nemanja Matic is making his first start for the club after his £40m move from Chelsea and has impressed, despite breaking the glasses of a female fan in the crowd.

The Red Devils lead at half-time thanks to goal from Henrikh Mkhitaryan which arrived in bizarre circumstances.

Daley Blind almost scored an embarrassing own goal when he went to return the ball to keeper David de Gea but instead sent it towards an unguarded goal and the Spaniard was forced to concede an indirect free-kick six yards out.

United repelled Sampdoria's effort on goal and then broke the length of the field before Matteo Darmian's cross found the Armenian in the box and he headed home.
