Liverpool have been dealt a big blow ahead of their crunch clash with Man United this weekend after the club confirmed that an injury picked up by Sadio Mane on international duty will rule the star attacker out for up to six weeks.

The Senegal international injured his hamstring during his country's 2-0 World Cup qualifier win over Cape Verde Islands last night, and will now be on the sideline for an extended period of time.

Mane has been in scintillating form for the Reds this season, and Jurgen Klopp's men have struggled in his absence since the the speedy forward joined Liverpool from Southampton in the summer of 2016.

His injury has come at a particularly bad time for Liverpool, with the Reds having won just one of their previous seven fixtures ahead of the visit of Man United to Anfield this Saturday.

Mane has scored three league goals in four appearances so far this season.
