Dyche not concerned about complacency after Burnley's strong start to the season

The Clarets sit seventh in the table after recording their fifth victory of the campaign by winning 1-0 at Southampton on Saturday.

Dyche has seen his managerial stock rise but knows he and his squad have achieved nothing yet.

"It's a so far story because there are a lot of big teams that we've got to play, home and away," he said.

"We don't run away with ourselves, that's for sure, myself, the staff or the group. And I don't think our fans do, I think they know there's a reality to the season and that's just a positive viewpoint on it.

"I know the reality of where we are and what we are trying to achieve and what we are doing to try and achieve that."

Substitute Sam Vokes struck the only goal at St Mary's, heading home Johann Berg Gudmundsson's pinpoint cross with nine minutes remaining.

The Clarets have now taken 11 points from a possible 18 on the road and m anager Dyche believes the progress of his squad is the most satisfying aspect of their impressive form.

"The most pleasing thing is players are moving forward in their careers," he said.

"I've mentioned this recently and I think I've got players who are moving forward in their careers, their personal view of their own career and the way they are conducting themselves, the way they are professional and the way they're playing - that's a marvellous thing."

Opponents Southampton were booed off by the home crowd after failing to score at St Mary's for the fourth time in six league outings.

Saints full-back Cedric Soares insists Mauricio Pellegrino's men must remain upbeat and believes top players thrive on adversity.

"I'm always positive, even if it's a tough moment," the Portugal international told southamptonfc.com.

"When it's a tough moment you can see the great players - even if someone whistles against you or something like that, you need to keep going and keep believing in yourself.

"If you work so hard to be in this club and to achieve this level you need to keep believing in what brings you here, so I think that the great players definitely show up in these tough moments."
