West Brom 0-0 West Ham Utd

West Ham secured their first away point of the campaign - but could really have been celebrating all three.

A second successive clean sheet was the foundation for United's first point of the season on their travels at The Hawthorns this afternoon, following reversals at Manchester United, Southampton and Newcastle.

And had Pedro Obiang enjoyed a little more luck with a 45-yard first half effort that rebounded off the crossbar, Slaven Bilic's team could have been celebrating a well-deserved win.

Such was West Ham's dominance, it took Albion 87 minutes before registering an effort on target. However the Hammers were unable to break the deadlock, depite fielding forwards Andy Carroll, Javier Hernandez, Marco Arnautovic, Michail Antonio, Andre Ayew AND Diafra Sakho during the match.

Chiefly responsible for West Ham's inability to find the net were a string of poor deliveries; although the likes of Aaron Cresswell created plenty of space on the flanks, all too often the final delivery was substandard and easily dealt with by West Brom's experienced central defenders.

The best chance of the opening half fell to Obiang, who was inches away from opening the scoring when his speculative 45-yard effort caught Foster off his line before crashing back off the crossbar - much to the England 'keeper's relief.

Bar that, the Hammers went closest to scoring through efforts from Joe Fonte - a free heading that narrowly missed the target - and Andy Carroll, who skied a good second-half chance high over the bar.

In stark contrast Albion, who have now scored 100 goals in 100 matches under Tony Pulis, were entirely anonymous and failed to threaten Hart's goal seriously all afternoon. And for that reason, a draw today will be considered by many as two points dropped, rather than a point gained.

The draw ensures West Ham remain in the relegation zone, with four points from their opening five games.
