Ooomph! The Ox strikes again! Love that player - classy, strong, powerful, smart. Some real gems in this Arsenal team!

Seems to be coming into his own now after a fairly stop/start career at the Arse.

Watched him in a couple of their pre seasons and he looked a different player.

Interesting reaction from Mourinho at the end of that match. Looks like a man troubled by the prospect of what Arsenal could do. Bar a couple of openings, Arsenal dealt with Chelsea quite comfortably. Providing they keep players fit they look to be a decent defensive outfit, empowered no doubt by the rise of Coquelin.

Only watched the first half and then watched us with a stuttering stream on the laptop for the charity shield so can't really comment on the second half but I think it'll be more of the same from mourinho this season, plenty of annoyance with him being hard done by with the zombie costa never, ever doing anything wrong.

The Ox may have scored that beauty today but he'll be out of the team again in no time. He's at a time in his career where he needs to be playing all the time to develop and he's not getting that at Arsenal.

Due to injury surely? I think he's a dead cert in Wenger's mind otherwise.

Arsenal have had a lot of false dawns recently, but this is the most legit their side has looked in some time. I obviously always want us to win the league, and barring an odd-ball team like Swansea or Southampton winning, I'd be cool if Arsenal won the league this year.

I think they are still short of a top class striker to be real contenders. They have only Welbeck and Giroud right now so I think they are going to add at least one more this window.

I never thought the striking department was such a huge issue. Yes, Giroud is not world class, but he still is a very good striker, he'll get you goals for sure. Then you look at the amount of match winners they have in their team. And finally, they have a world class GK and a damn good DM, something they've been lacking for so many seasons. If they keep their key players fit, I can see them winning the league this time round.

They keep saying Cech is worth 15 points to them..if that is the case he might put them over.

I think they've got enough goals in that team as well to succeed.

Mistakenly they thought Cech would 'gain' them 15 pts. Mind you with marking like that on the first goal any keeper is going to look crap.

Who let Welbeck into the knife drawer? Thought he'd have had the knife to his throat playing for the Mancs, not Arsenal too.

Sure that wasn't after they lost to West Ham as well, after reading some of the threads after we did, surprised to not have seen similar photos in Liverpool tops.

Bayern Munich supporters are planning to boycott the first five minutes of their Champions League game at Arsenal next week over "excessive and impossible" ticket prices around Europe.

The group - named on social media as FC Bayern Worldwide (FCBWWW) - have confirmed that the cheapest ticket price for their Group F match on October 20 is £64, with additional fees and postal charges taking the overall price to over £70.

FCBWW say these prices "make a stadium visit impossible for younger and socially disadvantaged fans" and "destroys fan culture, which is the basis of football".

Via a statement on Facebook, the group said: "The first five minutes of the game in London will be what future football will look like if this madness continues; empty seats in the stands and no singing or emotion.

Arsenal have also complained about ticket prices at the Emirates Stadium in the past
Arsenal have also complained about ticket prices at the Emirates Stadium in the past
"In the following 85 minutes we want to show the alternative and show how fundamentally important a lively fan culture is for football. But our action in London is not only directed at ticket prices for a single game."

The cheapest ticket at Bayern's Allianz Arena is €30 (£22), but their fans are regularly forced to pay far more at away games in Europe.

The statement added: "Over the course of a season, it adds up to a large sum, especially for younger fans. At Olympiacos, Bayern fans had to pay €50 [£37] for away tickets, in Zagreb it will be around €40 [£29]. In comparison with the prices at Arsenal, this may seem reasonable, but during a qualification game against lesser opposition, the prices in Zagreb were only a tenth of that.

"We express our support for campaigns like '20's Plenty' from England and 'Kein Zwanni' in Germany. Especially the developments in English football should be a sobering example."

“We were a bit unlucky having watched the [Zagreb and Olympiakos] games again,” Wenger said. Then, alluding to a wider issue, Wenger continued: “When you don’t play at your best and your opponent is doped, it is difficult.”
