Liverpool 2-1 Everton: In game and Post Match discussion
      Jan 05, 2018 06:40:04 pm

Anfield at night conquering the blues

Players arriving to Anfield for the FA Cup showdown

Starting XI: Karius, Gomez, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Milner, Can, Lallana, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Mane, Firmino.

Subs: Ward, Wijnaldum, Lovren, Klavan, Ings, Solanke, Alexander-Arnold.

Virgil van Dijk makes his Liverpool debut in this evening's FA Cup third-round tie with Everton at Anfield.

The centre-back, signed from Southampton earlier this week, is named in the Reds' starting XI as Jürgen Klopp makes six changes to the team deployed at Burnley on New Year's Day.

Sadio Mane begins alongside Roberto Firmino and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in attack after flying back overnight from the CAF African Player of the Year awards in Ghana on Thursday.

Elsewhere, Loris Karius has been given the nod in goal while Joel Matip, Andy Robertson and James Milner also return to the line-up.

      Don't like that.

Complete change of centre backs, Milner and Can in midfield, weak bench... ugh...

Hope that team clicks into gear and plays well.

He is just dropped because it is a cup game. Ward deserves to be on the bench.

Available or not, I said I don't like it. I didn't apportion blame.

Like the Burnley game, it looks.like we may have to struggle through this unless the lads all click together.

Given the lads available, I'd have Lovren ahead of Matip. A  complete switch of CB's is risky especially as VVD has not played a minute of football for us.

Can I don't rely on right now. His head is gone, and unless things are going well around him, he tends to be anonymous bar one or two solo runs.

      Woo-who, DELIGHTED.
At 75mill expecting him to win the game singlehanded.
Wasn't expecting him, team looks good.
Let's f**king bash this lot and put Phil related news to the background for a while at least.

Just knew VVD would come in with all the Coutinho talk swirling around. Come on lads, strongest side he could have picked.

It's not a disaster but I totally agree with you on Can. I would have played Wijnaldum instead of him.S
