WALSALL boss Jon Whitney believes he has signed a striker with 'pace and power' following his capture of Burnley's Dan Agyei on a six-month loan deal.

The 20-year-old featured for Sean Dyche's side in the Premier League last season but has slipped down the pecking order at Turf Moor following the arrival of Chris Wood for a club-record £15m earlier this summer.

And Whitney believes the Saddlers will see reap the benefit of the striker's talent in League One this season.

“He’s somebody we’ve been tracking over the summer,” said Whitney.

“He’s really highly thought of at Burnley and he made his Premier League debut against Liverpool at Anfield last season.

“He went out to Coventry last season and impressed there. He’s been highly sought after by several clubs but we have got the deal done.

“He’s a really good addition and he’ll strengthen the squad. He’s got raw pace and power and he’s got goals in him as well.

"We're really pleased to get Daniel on board."

Agyei was on loan at Coventry City in League One last season where he scored four times in 12 starts.
