ROVERS boss Tony Mowbray is looking forward to helping Sam Hart progress his career after bringing in the left-back from Liverpool.

Hart signed a two-year deal at Rovers, after joining for an undisclosed fee, on deadline day.

The 20-year-old spent six months of last season on loan at Port Vale, making 16 appearance, and is a player Mowbray says he has monitored closely.

He will provide competition for last season’s player of the year Derrick Williams at left-back, and Mowbray believes he has a number of important attributes.

He said: “Sam Hart is someone that we have watched for a  while, he’s pretty aggressive, likes a tackle, again of good stature.

“He’s coming from a massive football club, having been out on loan at Port Vale where he got some experience of the league, and I’m looking forward to working with him.

“When you work with them as lads, you see them on the pitch in the kit and competing, and then you meet them as human beings and he’s another nice lad who’s looking forward to the challenge.

“First of all they have to get in and around the team, they understand that, but that’s the challenge for them.

“I’m looking forward to progressing him on and help him build his career.”
