BEN Mee believes Burnley's contingent of English stars are beginning to attract attention after Jack Cork became the latest Claret to earn an England call-up.

Cork follows the path trodden by Tom Heaton and Michael Keane, who both earned Three Lions call-ups while at Turf Moor.

The 28-year-old was called into Gareth Southgate's squad on Tuesday morning after further withdrawals from the initial squad for Wembley friendlies with Germany and Brazil.

Cork could now win his first senior cap, having earned international recognition from under-16 to under-21 level previously, and Mee believes the call-up shows that Burnley players are in the spotlight after their flying start to the season.

“People are looking at us. We are seventh in the league at the moment," Mee said.

“We have had a fantastic start and we are playing really well.

“We just want to carry on and if anyone gets that recognition it will be fully deserved.

“We want to do well for the club and whatever comes along with it, comes along with it."

Cork has been a standout performer for the Clarets so far this term, and Mee said the midfielder was 'buzzing' when he heard news of his call-up before training on Tuesday.

“Massive congratulations to Corky. We’re delighted for him," he told the club's official website.

“He was buzzing when he found out, so we’re all really happy for him. Hopefully he can get a game and do really well.”
