Liverpool FC would like to advise fans using Liverpool Lime Street to travel to Anfield on a matchday that the station will be closed to passengers until October 22, 2017.

This is due to Liverpool Lime Street undergoing major engineering work in order to deliver substantial improvements from 2019 as part of the Great North Rail Project.

Fans travelling to Anfield for the Manchester United game, and also to London for the Reds’ away fixture against Tottenham Hotspur, will be affected.

Fans who normally travel to Lime Street through St Helens:

  • Until October 20, passengers will be able to travel into Liverpool between 6am and 8pm in the evening on a train service into platforms one and two at Lime Street. After 8pm, passengers will travel on rail replacement buses to/from Huyton where they will connect to rail services towards Manchester and Preston.
  • From October 20 to October 22, passengers will be able to travel by train as far as Huyton where rail replacement buses will be provided.

Fans who normally travel on Northern and Merseyrail services to Liverpool via Hunts Cross:

  • Until October 22, passengers will travel by rail replacement bus as there will be no Merseyrail services to and from Hunts Cross and all Northern services will terminate at Hunts Cross. Rail replacement buses will take passengers into Liverpool and stations ‘en route’ to the city centre.

All other supporters who normally travel via Warrington Central or Crewe (from London, Sheffield, Birmingham and Manchester):

  • Until October 22, fans should interchange at Liverpool South Parkway to make their onward journey to Liverpool on the Merseyrail network.

Fans should be aware that services will be busier than normal during this period and should allow extra time when travelling to Anfield.

Supporters should also allow plenty of time to get their onward connection either to the Soccerbus via the rail link to Sandhills or the 917 bus service from St John’s Lane opposite Lime Street Station.

LFC’s Fan Support Team and MerseyTravel staff will be on hand at Liverpool Central station helping to direct fans to Anfield and available to answer any questions you may have.

Fans travelling to London for the Tottenham Hotspur game:

Supporters are able to get to the match by going to Liverpool South Parkway (Merseyrail service from Sandhills/Moorfields/Liverpool Central) where they can pick up a direct service to London Euston. Return journeys will use the same route and fans will have several options to choose from although the last service back from London Euston to Liverpool South Parkway is 21.21pm.
