Divock Origi: I'm focused on improving at Wolfsburg
A positive start to his loan spell with Wolfsburg has given Divock Origi the platform to make the most of a season in the Bundesliga.
The Liverpool striker sealed the temporary switch to Germany on transfer deadline day in August, and has since scored once in five appearances.
Wolfsburg’s change of coach shortly after Origi’s arrival has not impeded the Belgium international’s transition – indeed, he feels in prime condition.
“I’m feeling better and feeling that I’m growing since the new coach came,” the 22-year-old told Sky Sports.
“I feel good, I feel I’m getting rhythm, I feel fit and happy. As a club and as a player, I think I made a good choice.”
Having signed for the Reds in the summer of 2014 and officially joined up a year later, Origi’s record shows 21 goals in 77 games in Liverpool colours.
He is proud of that tally – “as a striker, you live on goals and it’s always nice to score” – and wants to return to Merseyside an improved player next year.
“[Jürgen Klopp] sent me a message and wished me luck,” said Origi.
“After that I went to Wolfsburg and now I’m focusing on becoming a better player. I’m just focusing on Wolfsburg this year. It’s [for] one year. That’s what we agreed, a one-year deal at Wolfsburg.”
