Mohamed Salah heads into Friday's clash with Arsenal within touching distance of Robbie Fowler's best pre-Christmas Premier League goal totals for Liverpool.

The No.11 struck his 14th top-flight goal of the season against AFC Bournemouth last weekend, with only Fowler and Luis Suarez having scored more times for the club in a Premier League season before December 25.

Fowler netted on 15 occasions prior to Christmas in 1994-95 and then 16 by the same stage a year later. Suarez, meanwhile, plundered 19 before Christmas in 2013-14.

Salah is the first Liverpool player since Ian Rush in 1986 to score 20 goals in all competitions in a season before Christmas.

The Reds' next away goal will be their 700th on the road in the Premier League.

Philippe Coutinho could play his 150th league game for the club this evening.

Liverpool's 4-0 victory at Bournemouth last weekend saw them become the first team in English top-flight history to win four successive away games by at least a three-goal margin.

Since losing to Tottenham Hotspur in October, Jürgen Klopp's team have conceded four goals in nine league games.

Liverpool's current tally of 38 goals scored is their third-highest in the Premier League era after 18 games.

In scoring in the 4-0 win at Anfield earlier this season, Sadio Mane became the first Liverpool player since Fowler in 1995 to net against Arsenal in a third consecutive meeting.
