Nemanja Matic has backed Antonio Conte to recognise where Chelsea went wrong during Saturday's chastening 3-0 defeat to Arsenal.

The Gunners tore their capital rivals apart, courtesy of a ruthless first-half display, with Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil all on target for Arsene Wenger's side.

Chelsea have slipped to eighth place in the table, which has led to widespread questions about the team's ability to challenge for honours under Conte this season.

Conte has claimed he will have sleepless night after watching his side come up short at the Emirates Stadium and Matic believes the Italian coach will get to the root of the Blues' issues.

"We have to see where we made mistakes and what we can do better to improve," Matic told the club's official website.

"I’m sure the coach will see where the problem is.

"We have to know we play for a big club and we have to recover as soon as possible and be focused on the next game."

Chelsea's defence is expected to figure prominently on the list of what Conte is keen to address as the Blues have now conceded nine Premier League goals this season, including a total of six away from the comforts of Stamford Bridge.

Conte's side travel to Hull City next weekend and Matic has urged his teammates to bounce back immediately as they attempt to avoid losing three top flight fixtures on the bounce.

"Every game is a different story. The next game is very hard for us, Hull are a good team, but we have to be ready," said the Serbian midfielder.
