Arsene Wenger has confirmed Wojciech Szczesny will be Arsenal's first-choice goalkeeper at the start of the season.

The Gunners, who are currently on tour in America, are expected to sign Colombia international David Ospina for a reported £3million, but he will not be thrown into the line-up.

Wenger will honour Szczesny with a start in the season-opener against Crystal Palace and performances will dictate the starting line-up as the campaign progresses.

Wenger told ESPN: “You know at the start Szczesny will be the No.1, then again we’ll be down to performances and, if Ospina shows that he is better, he will play."
