The 'New Vieira': Bielik was in London on Wednesday to finalise deal

Arsenal are hopeful of completing a £1.6million deal to sign Polish teenager Krystian Bielik next month.

Standard Sport understands the 16-year-old was in London on Wednesday to finalise a move to Emirates Stadium with talks now at an advanced stage.

Bielik’s parents are convinced joining the Gunners is the best step for their son, who has been dubbed the ‘next Patrick Vieira' after a hugely promising start to his career at Legia Warsaw.

With a contract set to be finalised worth £2,000-a-week, the only uncertainty seems to be whether Bielik joins Arsenal next month or in the summer.

It is believed that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger wants to complete the deal as soon as possible but Legia would like to keep him for the remainder of the season, while the player’s parents think he will find it easier to settle in a new country during the close season.

Bielik has made just six senior appearances for Legia, including his debut in the Europa League against Trabzonspor. He has already been capped by Poland’s Under 16s and has been earmarked as a defensive midfielder or a centre-back, standing 6ft 2in tall already.
