Gareth Bale has insisted he is unmoved by speculation linking him with a move from Real Madrid to Manchester United.

The Welsh forward struggled with injuries last season and was confined to the bench for Madrid’s Champions League win with manager Zinedine Zidane opting instead for Isco, who was in sparkling form during his side’s 2-1 Uefa Super Cup win over Manchester United in Skopje.

Speculation has grown over a possible departure for Bale amid Madrid’s interest in Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe, who would cost in excess of £100million and expect a regular starting spot in Zidane’s front three.

Ahead of the Super Cup United boss Jose Mourinho pronounced himself ready to “fight” to bring Bale back to the Premier League if Madrid left him out of tonight. The 28-year-old started and after an impressive 74 minutes pronounced himself eager to stay in Spain.

“I’m just concentrating on my football,” Bale told BT Sport. “I’m not listening to anything. I don’t read anything.

“Obviously I get told bits and bobs but I’m just enjoying being here, playing as much as I can and winning trophies.

“I haven’t had any of those conversations [with Real Madrid]. I’m trying to get my fitness up pretty much after not playing fully for eight or nine months.”

Mourinho also conceded defeat in his ambitious chase, telling the broadcaster: “Clearly the club want him. The manager wants him.

“For me game over. Now everybody knows he’s going to stay.”

Since leaving Tottenham for Real Madrid in a world record £85million deal in 2013 Bale has won one La Liga title and three Champions Leagues.
