Antonio Conte looks set to hand Brazilian wing-back Kenedy the chance to revive his Chelsea career when they face Nottingham Forest in the League Cup on Wednesday.

The 21-year-old was sent home from the Blues’ pre-season tour of Asia after his ill-advised social media posts, leaving his Chelsea career hanging by a thread.

However, with Conte set to rotate his squad at Stamford Bridge, the Italian is expected to offer him a way back into his first team plans.

"He knows very well what happened in China," Conte said.

"For sure he made a mistake, but I think everyone in life can make mistakes.

"Now he's focused, he's working very well. Now he's ready to play and to show he deserves a space for the future."

There could also be a chance for highly rated Belgian Charly Musonda to lay down a marker, having played just a minute of first team football so far this season.

“We’re talking about a young player with really good prospects,” Conte added.

“Now it’s important that he’s working very well.

"Tomorrow [against Nottingham Forest] is a good opportunity also to give a chance to some players that in this moment didn't play a lot.”
