The duo were once again among those drafted into Wenger’s cup squad that blends senior players with the best youth prospects.

Since central midfielder Sheaf arrived in north London six years ago, the playmaker has established himself as an important player for the Academy squad.

He made 22 appearances under Steve Gatting last year - scoring twice - following a spectacular performance during the Durban International Tournament which saw him finishing as top goal scorer and player of the tournament.

U23 superstar Nelson featured for the first team during the pre-season tour, before making his senior debut in the Community Shield win over Chelsea at Wembley.

He has netted 11 times in 27 appearances so far and is considered one of the club’s most exciting prospects.

The young forward signed his first professional contract with the club and is expected to start Tuesday’s match alongside the likes of Alex Iwobi, Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud.

Jack Wilshere was also seen training with the second-tier squad at the London Colney training session.

The 25-year-old impressed in a promising Europa League performance which saw him play an integral role in Giroud’s late winner over Red Star Belgrade, and grabbed an assist against Everton on Sunday.

Spirits are high at the Emirates after the 5-2 win against the Toffees at the weekend.

Following the humiliating defeat, Everton plunged into the relegation zone and sacked manager Ronald Koeman.
