Arsenal 1 West Ham 0 | EFL Cup quarter final | Emirates Stadium | Kick-off: 7:45pm | Tuesday, 19 December, 2017

Danny Welbeck scrambled Arsenal into the EFL Cup semi-finals as they secured a scrappy 1-0 win over West Ham at the Emirates Stadium.

The England international scored midway through a drab first half as Arsenal secured their third consecutive clean sheet, though they were scarcely tested by a West Ham side who didn’t even register a shot until over an hour had been played.

There was however cause for concern in Arsenal’s victory as Olivier Giroud and Francis Coquelin limped off in the second half, potentially robbing Arsene Wenger of key squad players ahead of the hectic festive schedule.

It looks like one of the bright young hopes at West Ham, Domingos Quina, is in line to feature tonight. The 18-year-old has been linked with a host of top clubs and is highly rated at the club, where he has made four senior appearances off the bench. We'll know for sure what role he'll play when we get team news shortly.

Less than a week ago these two played out a dire 0-0 draw in the Premier League, though that point was considerably greater cause for celebration for West Ham than Arsenal.

Since then the David Moyes revival has continued apace with a 3-0 win at Stoke whilst Arsenal are still lumbering in front of goal, as proven in the 1-0 victory over Newcastle secured through some Mesut Ozil magic.

There'll be a few changes from last week's teams tonight - might youngsters such as Domingos Quinas or Eddie Nketiah give us cause for excitement? We'll find out soon...

Bad news for West Ham - Manuel Lanzini has been banned for two games after being found guilty of a charge of 'successful deception of a match official' in Saturday's Premier League win over Stoke, the Football Association has announced.

The bad starts with immediate effect, so he's out tonight.
