England manager Gareth Southgate has handed Burnley midfielder Jack Cork his first senior Three Lions call-up.

The 28-year-old, a product of the Chelsea academy, has been drafted in by Southgate for the upcoming friendlies against Germany and Brazil.

The England boss has turned to the former Swansea and Southampton man after Raheem Sterling, Fabian Delph and Jordan Henderson became the latest withdrawals from his injury-hit squad.

The Football Association said in a statement on Tuesday night: "The arrival of Cork means Gareth Southgate will continue his preparations at St. George's Park with a 22-man squad."

Earlier in the week, Tottenham trio Dele Alli, Harry Kane and Harry Winks all withdrew from the squad as they recover from injuries sustained at club level.

Jake Livermore and Michael Keane were also handed late call-ups, while – alongside Cork - Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Tammy Abraham and Jo Gomez, named in the original squad, could also make their first appearances at senior level.
