On-loan Chelsea midfielder Kasey Palmer has suffered a hamstring injury which will rule him out of action for "a few months", Huddersfield manager David Wagner has confirmed.

Palmer first joined Huddersfield on loan in July 2016 and, after a fine start which led to him cementing his spot in Wagner's side, he picked up a hamstring injury which kept him sidelined for more than three months.

But he returned from the problem to help Huddersfield win their play-off at Wembley and book the team's spot in the Premier League, which earned him a new contract at Chelsea and a season-long return to Wagner's team.

But after making substitute appearances in Huddersfield's opening three league games, Palmer suffered another hamstring issue during England U21's 3-0 win over Latvia in September - a game he scored in - and is now set to miss a significant amount of time.

When asked about the 20-year-old's injury, Wagner told BBC Radio Leeds: "The injury is more or less as big as it was before so we will have to make further investigations but he will be out for a few months."
