Chelsea defender David Luiz has vowed to play through the pain barrier after fracturing his wrist against Arsenal on Sunday.

Luiz suffered the injury late on in the first half when he collided with the advertising hoardings after challenging Alexandre Lacazette for the ball.

The Brazil international emerged with his left arm strapped up for the second half, but didn't finish the game because he was sent off three minutes from the end due to a reckless tackle on Sead Kolasinac.

Luiz is already back in training - even though he is banned for the next three games - having had a splint applied to his wrist, which is understood to have suffered a small fracture.

The 30-year-old is unlikely to be called up by Brazil during the next international break having fallen out of favour of late, however, with the ban having no effect on European competition could be in the Chelsea squad when they travel to Spain to face Atletico Madrid next week.

But Luiz is determined to keep fit and sharp in the meantime, especially as there is already a lot of competitions for places to play in the back three.

Conte has captain Gary Cahill, vice-captain Cesar Azpilicueta, summer signing Antonio Rudiger and Denmark international Andreas Christensen to choose from while Luiz is sidelined.
