Christmas time is a busy period for Premier League footballers. While their counterparts across Europe prepare for a nice winter break, the games are coming thick and fast for those in the world’s biggest league.

That is, unless, players take their bookings seriously. Should a player pick up five yellow cards before December 31, when their record is wiped, then a one-match ban is sent their way by The FA.

With one game left to go before Christmas Day and the traditional Boxing Day fixtures, there are a number of players in the capital who could yet earn themselves Christmas with the family.

One player famed for timing his suspension just right in order to gain a bit of respite over the festive period is former West Ham midfielder, Kevin Nolan, who picked up a December suspension five years in a row.

Back to this season, though, and some star names could have their feet up by the fire should they pick up a fifth booking in their next game.

Tottenham (Burnley away)

Both Harry Kane and Jan Vertonghen could be spending Boxing Day at home should they earn a caution at Turf Moor.

Spurs host Southampton in the early kick-off on December 26.

Arsenal (Liverpool at home)

The Gunners host Jurgen Klopp’s rampant Liverpool side at The Emirates on Friday night, and both Granit Xhaka and Alexis Sanchez are sitting on four bookings a piece.

The north Londoners, though, do not have a game on Boxing Day this year, instead they travel to Crystal Palace two days later on December 28.

Crystal Palace (Swansea away)

While Arsenal could have two names missing come the clash at Selhurst Park, their hosts could also be short should their duo look to earn some festive respite.

Both Luka Milivojevic and Jason Puncheon are on four bookings ahead of their clash at Swansea City on Saturday.
