Demarai Gray has been compared by Claude Puel to Chelsea star Eden Hazard after signing a new contract with Leicester City.

The 21-year-old was handed only a second Premier League start of the season in Puel bow as manager against Everton last weekend, marking the occasion with a sensational run to set up Jamie Vardy's opener before rounding off the 2-0 win with a goal of his own.

Puel worked with Hazard for a season during the final year of his spell in charge at Lille and feels Gray has the same attributes that helped the Belgian break into the first team as a 16-year-old.

"(Hazard) was unique," Puel told reporters. "Demarai is the same, he can keep the quickness a long time with the ball."

"He's good with the ball and good without the ball... a good player with good penetration, quality and he can make a difference.

"Now it's important to confirm and to stay at this level is the most important thing but the most difficult.

"He is technical and can play with good relationships with team mates. (It is) a good opportunity and we will see if he can continue to perform."
