Harry Winks, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tammy Abraham have been named in the England squad to face Germany and Brazil, but Jack Wilshere misses out.

Tottenham midfielder Winks made his senior international debut in last month’s World Cup qualifier against Lithuania, and impressed in Tottenham's two Champions League group games against Real Madrid - in particular the 3-1 Wembley win on Wednesday night.

Winks, 21, has retained his place in Gareth Southgate's squad for the Wembley friendlies against Germany on November 10 and Brazil four days later.

Chelsea forward Abraham - currently on loan at Swansea - also makes the cut after scoring four Premier League goals this season, including a brace in the Swans' 2-0 win against Huddersfield on October 14.

Another Chelsea loanee also makes the cut with Loftus-Cheek named in the squad despite Crystal Palace's poor start the the 2017-18 campaign.

However, Wilshere’s hopes of playing at next summer’s World Cup finals have been dealt a fresh blow after he was overlooked.

The 25-year-old midfielder has impressed in six appearances for Arsenal this season, but just 11 minutes of that action has come in the Premier League.

It is understood England boss Gareth Southgate believes Wilshere has not had enough regular first-team action to be considered.

Liverpool defender Gomez joins the 25-man squad, while Manchester United's Ashley Young, who last played for his country in September 2013, has been rewarded for his resurgent form with a call-up.

Danny Rose and Jamie Vardy return from injury, but there are some glaring absentees. The Liverpool duo of Daniel Sturridge and Oxlade-Chamberlain have been left out, as has Man United centre-back Smalling.

Everton's Michael Keane, who has been struggling with a foot complaint, was another notable name missing, while Jermain Defoe, Aaron Cresswell, Fraser Forster and Jake Livermore are others from the previous squad to not be involved.
