Eden Hazard has revealed his “dream” to play under Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane.

The Chelsea star has long been a target for Real Madrid, whose manager described Hazard as “spectacular” in 2015, without the Spanish giants crystallising that interest in a bid.

Hazard, who has three years left on his contract, has also hinted at a desire to one day try his hand in La Liga though he has also consistently expressed his happiness at Chelsea.

However the chance to learn from one of the greatest players of his generation is not one that Hazard would shun.

He told Belgian TV channel RTL: “Everyone knows the respect I have for Zidane as a player, but also as a manager. He was my idol.

“I do not know what will happen in my career in the future. However, for sure, to play under Zidane would be a dream.

“I am enjoying life at Chelsea. I still have a lot of things to achieve with them. I am focused on playing for Chelsea.”

Hazard also refused to rule out a reunion with former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, though he admitted the disastrous title defence in 2015 that ended with the now Manchester United boss being sacked by the Blues for the second time as they hovered above the relegation zone.

“There have been a few [bad times in my career],” Hazard said. “We have had a few managers over time, which is not great.

“Mourinho was sacked the year after we won the league. In terms of selection I have known some highs and lows too. It wasn't always great.”
