Lukaku scored a brace on Wednesday night to take his tally to 10 goals in his first nine matches, bettering the record of club great Sir Bobby Charlton, who scored nine in the same number.

Anthony Martial was a stand-out performer, scoring a penalty and providing both crosses for Lukaku's goals, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan making it four just after half-time. Substitute Konstantin Kuchaev scored a 90th-minute consolation for the hosts.

Mourinho criticised United in their last Champions League win against FC Basel for supposed "PlayStation football", but the Portuguese coach was pleased that his players focussed on the job at hand against CSKA in Russia.

BBC Sport reported him as saying: "We started so strong, we surprised them with out attitude. They didn't look as good as they are, because of us.

"Lukaku has a great record, we know he is a very good player who can score lots of goals.

"He is surrounded by quality players. I have to admit that he is scoring really important games nearly every game. We are in a good position with four matches to play.

"We are almost there. There was not so much PlayStation football tonight, just a little bit of relaxation. That is normal."
