Danny Drinkwater is hoping he can emulate his Premier League title-winning Leicester City partnership with N'Golo Kante at Chelsea.

Chelsea signed Kante from Leicester in the summer of 2016 after he and Drinkwater had formed a strong midfield bond to power Claudio Ranieri's Foxes to a 5,000/1 top-flight title triumph.

Kante was an inspired addition to Antonio Conte's Chelsea squad, powering the Blues to glory and becoming just the second player to win back-to-back Premier League titles with two different clubs.

Conte decided to add Kante's former Foxes team-mate Drinkwater this summer in a deadline-day transfer, and the England international is hoping for more silverware with a familiar midfield partner.

Cesc Fabregas working hard 'to become more like N'Golo Kante' for Chelsea, says Antonio Conte

"I played with N’Golo for a season and there was not really a game I didn't enjoy playing next to him," he told the club's website.

"I am looking forward hopefully to carrying on where we left off.

"I think we hit it off from the first game and after that we did not really lose.

"He is a top lad, the most down-to-earth person you will meet.

"I can’t see him changing much and I am looking forward to meeting him again."

Drinkwater faces competition to start alongside Kante this season, however, with Cesc Fabregas and fellow summer signing Tiemoue Bakayoko already battling for games with Nemanja Matic moving to Manchester United.
