Jose Mourinho confirms Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United transfer is 'so close'

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho expects Alexis Sanchez's future to be resolved one way or the other with the deal "so close".

United have been strongly linked with the Chile international, who is out of contract at Arsenal in the summer, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan set to move to the Gunners as part of a swap deal.

Standard Sport understands that Arsenal have been pushing United to include a cash payment of up to £10million to allow the deal to go through.

Mourinho said on Friday that there was "no point in trying to hide or deny" United's interest after Arsene Wenger confirmed that he expected Sanchez to move to Old Trafford.

Speaking after United's 1-0 win at Burnley on Saturday, Mourinho said that while Sanchez looks set to sign for the Red Devils, there is still a possibility of the deal collapsing.

Mourinho told reporters: "I expect soon or never. I think it's so close, so close, so close that if it doesn't happen it's not going to happen, so I am positive.

"I know that my people are doing everything, absolutely everything they can, the owners with the green light, (executive vice-chairman) Mr (Ed) Woodward's working hard.

"I think everybody is giving everything they can and I think they are going to be successful."
