Manchester City vs West Ham team news: Vincent Kompany, Fernandinho and Gabriel Jesus benched

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has named Vincent Kompany, Fernandinho and Gabriel Jesus on the bench for the visit of West Ham.

Both Kompany and Fernandinho are on four bookings and Guardiola will have one eye on the Manchester derby next weekend.

For the visitors, On-loan goalkeeper Joe Hart is ineligible against his parent club so Spaniard Adrian will deputise, while strikers Javier Hernandez (hamstring) and Andy Carroll (knee) remain out, along with defenders Sam Byram (hamstring), James Collins and Jose Fonte (both ankle).

Marko Arnautovic and Andre Ayew drop to the bench as Michail Antonio and Edimilson Fernandes come in, while Winston Reid, who came off during the defeat to Everton, has lost his fitness battle and Declan Rice comes in. Mark Noble has been left out of the squad completely.

Speaking ahead of the game, Guardiola vowed to play his strongest possible XI.

The City boss said: "I can't think it's already done or it'll be easy. I can't think, 'It's West Ham we can make six or seven changes and the second team is going to play'. I think that's ridiculous.
