Sean Dyche and David Moyes among favourites to succeed Ronald Koeman at Everton

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has emerged as the early favourite to replace Ronald Koeman as Everton boss.

Koeman was dismissed on Monday just a day after Everton's disappointing 5-2 defeat to Arsenal at Goodison Park. The Toffees sit third bottom in the Premier League after winning just two of their opening nine league games under Koeman.

And Dyche heads a list of early frontrunners to succeed Koeman. Asked about the vacant Leicester job last week, Dyche refused to rule out a move away from Turf Moor, adding: “I’m quite open-minded about what comes next with Burnley. Beyond that, who knows? It’s hypothetical.

“I’ve had to answer these questions so many times, but I’m still here.

“That doesn’t guarantee anything and one day it will change, in my control or out of my control. It’s the nature of football.

“In a way, you’re flattered, because it’s some form of recognition for the work by the players, the staff and myself.”

Former Everton boss David Moyes, who has managed Manchester United, Real Sociedad and Sunderland since leaving Goodison Park in 2013, is also a notable leading contender at 16/1.
