Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic expects Ryan Sessegnon to still be at Craven Cottage when the transfer window closes at the end of January.

The 17-year-old has once more been linked to Tottenham, long-term suitors for his signature, with recent claims suggesting Spurs may also look to sign Sessegnon’s twin brother Steven.

Sessegnon has also been targeted by Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal but rejected the lure of Premier League giants to sign his first professional contract with Fulham, a three-year deal, in the summer.

Since then Sessegnon’s rise to prominence has continued – he has missed only 21 minutes of league action for the Cottagers this season and scored four goals. Whilst Jokanovic admits it is not his decision to make, the Cottagers boss is optimistic the England youth international will continue his development in west London.

“Yes [I am confident], if we want to be competitive we must keep our important players,” Jokanovic said of Sessegnon’s future.

“All the questions are what the value of this player is, but myself, as a coach, I prefer to stay with the more important players for the competition that is ahead of us, but on the other side I can understand the business side too.

“In this moment, I am not thinking of being without him for the season, but it is not under my control.”
