Manchester United’s winning start to the season was brought to a halt at Stoke on Saturday as a brace from Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting held Jose Mourinho’s side to a 2-2 draw.

Stoke summer signing Choupo-Moting opened the scoring just before the interval, only for Marcus Rashford to level up for the visitors inside injury time in the first half - although the England international didn’t know too much about it as Paul Pogba’s header ricocheted off his back and in from close range.

Mourinho’s men, who were yet to concede a goal this season until their visit to the bet365 Stadium, looked comfortable in the second half when - at the second time of asking - Romelu Lukaku managed to find the back of Jack Butland’s net at the second time of asking to give them the lead for the first time.

That was until Xherdan Shaqiri’s corner found Choupo-Moting at the far post who, having left Phil Jones in a heap on the floor, headed home to equalise.

Having looked so invincible before the international break, Mourinho will be hoping his side are back to their maurauding best on Tuesday night when they welcome Basel to Old Trafford for their Champions League return.
