Arsenal target Thomas Lemar has sent fans into a frenzy ahead of the January transfer window.

The Monaco man teased Gunners supporters by liking a post on Instagram which simply said: "Welcome to Arsenal."

Arsene Wenger failed to lure Lemar from Ligue 1 on the final day of the summer transfer window when they couldn't tempt the 22-year-old to step away from Champions League football with a bid worth £75m plus £17m in add-ons.

However, Monaco are prepared to listen to offers for Lemar after finishing bottom of their Champions League group and falling nine points behind pace-setters PSG in the race for the Ligue 1 crown.

Liverpool are also interested in the Monaco star, while Chelsea are now weighing up a swoop that would reunite Lemar with his former Monaco team-mate Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Monaco are expected to demand at least £80million for his services and Chelsea are in a strong negotiating position in the race for his signature as former technical director Michael Emenalo has taken up the same role with the Lige 1 champions.

Asked about the possibility of going back in for Lemar in January, Arsene Wenger said last month: "Do we go for the transfer market in January? I don’t know yet.”

And Lemar's social media activity has prompted plenty of excitement as January rolls into view. One Arsenal fan tweeted: "Thomas Lemar just liked a comment on his Instagram post sayin, ‘welcome to Arsenal’ after numerous comments saying ‘come to chelsea’ make of that what you will."
