The East End of London is famed for its varied cuisine and, for football fans in particular, its pies.

And now West Ham fans can enjoy the perfect half-time snack without burning a hole in their pockets.

Indeed, West Ham are the only Premier League club to cut the price of their matchday pies this season. The east London club have not only reduced their season ticket by £10, but dropped their pastry snacks by 20p to £3.90.

BBC Sport’s Price of Football study has revealed that West Ham's decision to cut prices this term bucks the trend set by top flight rivals, with more than half of clubs in the Premier League increasing the cost of their pies.

However, this season's offering at the London Stadium will still set you back 40p more than when West Ham when were stationed at Upton Park 18 months ago.

The puff pie has been a staple for east Londoners for some time and was created after demand grew for cheap and nutritional food.

The quintessentially British concoction is traditionally served with a big dollop of mashed potato and a ladle of liquor or gravy poured liberally on the plate.

Crystal Palace, Fulham and Tottenham offer the most expensive pies in the capital, costing over £4.00 each.

While Chelsea offer their pastry treat at the cheapest price of £2.50.

The BBC study also found more than 80 per cent of ticket prices have either been reduced or frozen for the 2017-18 Premier League season, however more than half of fans polled said professional football is not run with them in mind.
