Arsene Wenger is sticking by the injured Mesut Ozil and believes he will be better than ever when he returns to first-team action.

The German midfielder was sidelined by a knee injury sustained at Stamford Bridge last month, and is unlikely to recover until January at the earliest.

It also appears that the World Cup winner came back from Brazil with a problem, but still featured in all of Arsenal’s Premier League games bar one until the Chelsea defeat.

‘He [Ozil] will not be back until January. He came back from the World Cup with an injury,’ Wenger told beIN Sport.

While Ozil’s injury has come during a difficult period at the Emirates for the 26-year-old, the Gunners boss believes Arsenal fans can look forward to seeing him shine in the future.

‘He had a very good first season with us. I think we will see the best of Ozil in the seasons to come,’ he said.
