Pain: Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere lies injured during the match between Arsenal and Manchester United (Picture: AP)

Arsenal look set to be without Jack Wilshere for the foreseeable future, after Arsene Wenger confirmed ‘he will be out for a while’.

The midfielder went down after being caught heavily by Paddy McNair during the 2-1 defeat to Manchester United, and it seems unlikely the injury-troubled star will see first-team action until at least 2015.

‘I can’t give you any timescale there. He’ll be out for a while. He has to see a specialist next week to see how long,’ Wenger said.

Wojciech Szczesny and Theo Walcott will also miss the visit of Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday, but Wenger does have Laurent Koscielny to call upon after the defender re-joined first-team training.
