Arsenal are set to receive £2million as a result of Benik Afobe’s transfer from Wolves to Bournemouth, according to reports.

Afobe came through the youth ranks with the Gunners but never made a first-team appearance for the north London side before being sold in 2015.

The 22-year-old striker has now joined Premier League outfit Bournemouth for a fee of £10m in a 4.5 year deal and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger clearly has high hopes for his former player.

‘It is a good opportunity for him and I hope he will be successful there,’ Wenger said.

‘Sometimes you have to let people go who are not completely ready for us, knowing that they could be successful.’

‘I am very happy because we have contributed to his success and I hope he will have a long, good career.’
