Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla will take a late fitness test ahead of the side’s Premier League clash with Middlesbrough this weekend, Arsene Wenger has confirmed.

The 31-year-old was forced off in the 57th minute of the Gunners 6-0 thumping of Ludogorets on Wednesday evening which raised doubts over his fitness.

Cazorla was seen watching from the sidelines at the Emirates with an ice pack held against his Achilles.

Wenger has now admitted he may not be ready to face Aitor Karanka’s side on Saturday.

‘The only uncertainty I have is Santi Cazorla who got a kick,’ the Frenchman said.

‘He will be assessed today. [Granit] Xhaka is suspended.’
