Jack Wilshere has revealed his failure to complete 90 minutes of a Premier League game for over two years was a statistic he was desperate to put right.

The Arsenal midfielder is out on a season-long loan deal at Bournemouth where he has been playing on a regular basis after a nightmare spell at the Emirates.

Asked what the biggest landmark for him had been seen moving to Bournemouth, Wilshere replied: ‘I think the biggest one is completing my first 90 minutes in something like two years.

‘Of course it’s nice to get that stat away from me.’

Wilshere played his first full game since September 2014 when he ended the match on the field in Bournemouth’s 0-0 draw with Tottenham earlier this season. The gap between those appearances – a staggering 771 days.

‘It was right for me to come to a club where we play once a week,’ Wilshere added. ‘That gives me time to recover, time to work on different things in training and I’m feeling good at the moment.’
