Pep Guardiola insists he has no regrets after seeing his Manchester City side crash out of the FA Cup against Arsenal at Wembley.

Sergio Aguero fired City in front in the semi-final clash but Nacho Monreal’s equaliser 10 minutes later sent the tie into extra-time.

Gunners superstar Alexis Sanchez settled the game 11 minute into the extra period with a scrambled winner after City failed to clear Mesut Ozil’s free-kick.

When asked about his side’s display, Guardiola said: ‘You cannot expect to control the whole game.

‘We played quite good and we are out. They played long balls into [Olivier] Giroud.

‘Congratulations to Arsenal. We will come back stronger next season. We are not in final. We tried to do it, to create more chances so I don’t have regrets. We tried to do what we wanted to do.’

City now have a quick turnaround before Thursday’s Manchester derby – United will move into fourth with a win over their fierce rivals.

‘We have three or four days to recover. Today we are sad and as soon as possible we will stand up,’ Guardiola added.

‘We tried to change many things. Some days we did it but results show who you are, they could be better, could be worse.’
