Monaco have told Arsenal that they will not be able to sign Thomas Lemar this summer.

Arsene Wenger’s side have already had two bids rejected for the France international but reports on Tuesday claimed that the Gunners had made a breakthrough in negotiations.

It had been claimed that Arsenal were closing in on a £45 million deal for the 21-year-old, who is keen to make the move to the Premier League.

But on Wednesday, Monaco’s vice president Vadim Vasilyev insisted that they had no plans to sell Lemar.

‘We have kept all of the key players that we intended to keep,’ he said at a press conference.

‘I will address speculation relating to the case of Lemar. He is staying with us.

‘He is an immense talent and is essential for the team.’
