Antonio Conte asked about Renato Sanches’ availability after Chelsea’s defeat to Bayern Munich earlier this week, according to the German club’s CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

On Friday, reports claimed that the Premier League champions had made a late attempt to sign the 19-year-old from under the noses of AC Milan, who had been expected to complete a season-long loan deal before the end of the month.

Sanches started against Chelsea in Bayern’s 3-2 win in Singapore and delivered an impressive performance in midfield against N’Golo Kante and Cesc Fabregas.

And the Portugal international’s display caught the eye of Conte, although Bayern have warned the Chelsea manager that he faces heavy competition to sign the midfielder.

‘There are at least 10 teams after Sanches,’ said Rummenigge.

‘Conte asked for some information about him after Tuesday’s match because he knows he can make the difference on the pitch.

‘[Carlo] Ancelotti was pleased with his performance against Chelsea so we can make some reasoning on him later.

‘Almost certainly we’ll let him leave just on loan, we still count on him.’
